First Russian LMP2 prototype BR01 set to debut in Italy under SMP Racing brand

LMP2 prototype BR01, built by Russian company BR Engineering, set to official race debut. Second round of European Le Mans Series 4 Hours of Imola will be its first challenge.

SMP Racing will field two BR01 LMP2 prototypes. Mikhail Aleshin, Kirill Ladygin and Anton Ladygin will pilot the No. 37 car, with Maurizio Mediani, David Markozov and Nicolas Minassian will drive the No. 27 car.

First shakedown of BR01 prototype was held at Circuit Paul Ricard in France in March, when the car was unveiled. Last month BR01 prototype gets successful 24 hours race simulation at the same track. The prototype run more than 6 000 kms without any technical problems.

After 4 Hours of Imola race SMP Racing will taking the part in the 24 Heures du Mans in June. SMP Racing will field two BR01 LMP2 prototypes alongside Ferrari F458 Italia in LMGTE Am category.
