LM P2 - 27/09/2018 - Sophie LIGER
The interview was conducted before the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps which was won overall by the no22 United Autosports Ligier-Gibson of Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque, with the no2 United Autosports Ligier-Nissan of John Falb and Scott Andrews winning in LMP3.
The 2018 season so far?
“Disappointed with the season for sure. The drivers have done well, we had a combination of bad luck and not enough speed. Le Mans looks to be the highlight of the season, maybe we will finish third maybe we will finish fourth (according to the decision made concerning G-Drive Racing appeal). We need a little bit more pace, maybe we need some more development on the Ligier. I don’t think it’s the fastest car. We have changed the tyres from Dunlop to Michelin and we did a good qualifying. It’s obviously disappointing from being vice champions and win half the races to not having won one yet.”
Switching from Dunlop To Michelin
“It was Richard’s (Dean) decision, we are looking to maximise the performance and we did some tests before we made the decision. They are both great tyres, I don’t think there is much differences between the two but there is enough for us to make the change. In qualifying at Spa, we were the most competitive we’ve been until now. “
The 2019 projects
“LMP3 will definitely stay a part of our project. We would like to continue racing in ELMS as we already did, and now in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the 2019/2020 season will be our goal. Ideally we would like to have two cars racing in WEC but realistically it will be one car.”
The team will now head to Portimão, the home race of Filipe Albuquerque for the final race of the 2018 European Le Mans Series.
