Will the rain referee the season?

ELMS - 12/09/2008

Nothing is never done before the end...the first day of the final round, here in England, seems to be the proof of that saying. On a waterlogged track, the balance of power between the two leaders of the LMP1 category: Audi scores the best times of the second free practice session, with nearly 4 seconds less than the Peugeot driven by Marc Gené and Nicolas Minassian!

The surprise came from the GTs too, especially the GT2s, obviously more comfortable under the rain than the protos. The three Porsche GT3 RSR signed the best lap times in the category.

The free practice sessions of this first day of the season augur well for the race, on Sunday. Audi performed the best time (1:51.785) thanks to Allan McNish and Dindo Capello's piloting.

Of course, these results do not prove anything, but we can remember the effects of the rain during the last 24 Hours of Le Mans...the season can still be played by both manufacturers. We can be sure that the teams will focus on the weather forecast during the two next days...
