Who Will Claim Pole Position for the Final Race of 2019?

Unlike LMP3 and LMGTE, the pole position in LMP2 has been claimed by five different teams and drivers in the first five races of the 2019 season. Will one of these teams take a second pole in Portimão or will there be a sixth different name on pole after qualifying on Saturday 26 October?

Championship leaders G-Drive Racing scored the first pole of the year at Paul Ricard, with French driver Norman Nato securing the extra point at his home event for the Russian team.  

At the 4 Hours of Monza, Nicolas Lapierre secured the first LMP2 pole for the Swiss team Cool Racing, with Paul Loup Chatin taking pole in Barcelona for championship contenders Idec Sport. 

It was a home pole for Ben Hanley when the British driver secured the extra point for DragonSpeed at Silverstone.

Filipe Albuquerque posted the fastest time in qualifying at Spa-Francorchamps for United Autosports. The no22 United Autosports Oreca became the first pole position holder to score a podium finish in 2019 by taking the chequered flag in Belgium, all of the others finished 4^th or lower after starting at the front of the field. 

Championship contenders Graff, who are currently 25 points behind G-Drive Racing, need to take their first pole of the season and secure the extra point in Portugal to keep their slim championship hopes alive.

G-Drive Racing, Roman Rusinov and Job Van Uitert are currently on 93 points, 13 ahead of the Idec Sport Oreca of Paul Loup Chatin, Memo Rojas and Paul Lafargue, who are on 80 points.  Graff, Jonathan Hirschi, Alexandre Cougnaud and Tristan Gommendy are on 68 points.

The 4 Hours of Portimão will take place on Sunday 27 October.
