United Autosports Top Shortened FP1 at Silverstone

ELMS - 30/08/2019

The no22 United Autosports Oreca of Filipe Albuquerque and Phil Hanson topped the time sheets in Free Practice 1 for the 4 Hours of Silverstone.

The 90-minute session was cut short by over half an hour after the no45 Carlin Dallara of Jack Manchester went straight on at Stowe Corner into the barriers, the car reportedly suffering brake failure.  Manchester was helped from the car and taken to the medical centre for checks but is reported to be OK.

The damage to the barriers at Stowe Corner was extensive and the session was not resumed to allow the Silverstone staff to work on repairs.

The no22 Oreca’s lap time was 1m43.134, 0.770 seconds ahead of the no21 DragonSpeed Oreca, with championship leaders G-Drive Racing third fastest with a 1m44.160.

In LMP3 the no17 Ultimate Norma set the standard in the junior prototype class with a 1m54.040, 0.290 seconds ahead of the no6 360 Racing Ligier.  The no19 M Racing Norma M30 was third fastest with a 1m54.427 lap.

Ferrari led the way in the LMGTE class with the no60 Kessel Racing setting a 1m58.679 lap.  The no77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche was second quickest with a 1m58.985 lap time, just 0.1 seconds ahead of the no88 Proton Competition 911 RSR.

Free Practice 2 is due to start at 14h45 BST this afternoon.
