A solid race for Pegasus Racing

ELMS - 17/05/2016 - Communiqué de Presse - Pegasus Racing

Under very difficult weather conditions, the three drivers of Pegasus Racing did a great race. They crossed the finishing line without any problem, in the 12th place for this second round of the European Le Mans Series, on Imola track (Italy).

Free practices to learn

The free practices are mainly devoted to the discovery of the track because neither Rémy Striebig nor Inès Taittinger have ever driven on it. Even if Léo Roussel did not have a lot of time to drive the car, the young 21 year-old man set the 9th fastest time with a time of 1:35.014. Of course, he will only start for the 5th row of the starting grid but the gap between the cars is so close that Léo is only 1.2 second behind the pole sitter.

Pegasus Racing between raindrops

Léo Roussel was in charge of the start and maintained the 9th place at the first corner. Quickly, he gained one place and set very quick lap times, only one second slower than the leader. After his pit stop, he was 7th and kept on being in the leader pace. After one hour and fifteen minutes, he handed over to Rémy Striebig.

Back on track in the 12th place, he caught up to the 8th place before being penalised by a drive through penalty because Léo Roussel did not respect previously the track limits several times. So he lost one place but secured the 9th place. Without doing any mistake, Rémy gave the wheel to Inès Taittinger nearly two hours before the end of race. She was back on track in the 14th place and managed to go up to the 12th place.

However, one hour before the checkered flag, a storm broke out above the circuit. The track was sodden; a Full Course Yellow was even put in place. The team asked Ines to come back to the pits. Some wet tyres were put on the car and Léo Roussel went back on the track to end a race that was under safety car statement. He was still 12th and the Race Control decided to finish the race under safety car.

After the Silverstone withdrawal, Pegasus Racing did a faultless race. This result shows the improvement of the drivers and the strength of the team. Now, here are the 24 Hours of Le Mans which will be held on 18th and 19th June. In order to best prepare this race, the team will participate at the Test Day (June 5th).
