The Circuit Paul Ricard will host the opening round of the 2018 European Le Mans Series with the 4 Hours of Le Castellet on Sunday 15 April. The 5.8km circuit in the south of France is well known for it’s colourful painted run off areas around the track, making it a firm favourite with photographers from around the world.

The coloured zones, which mark the border of the track, replace traditional gravel traps and consist of different levels of abrasiveness to slow the cars down should they venture off the circuit.

BLUE: The blue zones are situated on each side of the circuit and offer more grip than the actual track to slow down vehicles safely.

RED: The red zones are situated beyond the blue zones and are the most abrasive. They are designed to stop a car from colliding with the safety barrier.

WHITE: The white colour markings denote zones which do not present any danger.

The official ELMS photographers and the TV drone pilot were sent out to get some ‘arty’ pictures from around the track showing this unique circuit at its best.
