Thiriet by TDS Racing signed a perfect win!

During the free practices, the three drivers focused on the set-up of their car and results were not long coming in. At each session, the Oreca 05 – Nissan #46 driven by Ludovic Badey, Pierre Thiriet and Tristan Gommendy was the quickest on track. However, at the qualifying session, a mistake from Tristan prevented him from setting a good lap time and he had to content himself with the 5th row of the starting grid with a time of 1’37'’978. 

Pierre Thiriet was in charge of the start. He had a safe start and kept his 8th place at the end of the first lap. Then he did an amazing stint, he went from the 8th place to the 2nd in less than 25 minutes! He even set the temporary fastest lap of the race at the 18th lap...The car was in the lead after passing the wheel on to Ludovic Badey after 50 minutes. 

Back 4th on the track, he was immediately in the pace of the leaders and gained place after place. He finally took the lead after one hour and a half of race. Apart from a scheduled pit stop for tyres and fuel, the #46 never gave up the first place! 

Then, Tristan Gommendy got in the # 46 to end the race. He went out of the pit at the 4th place. He gained places and narrowed the gap with the other opponents.  After his morning mistake, he drove faster than anyone else on track and he even set the fastest time of the race at the 104th lap. He went on his stint on the same basis and crossed the finishing line as a winner, with nearly 15 seconds ahead of his most serious opponent. 

After the first podium at Silverstone, the team did the best performance and rehearsal before THE race of the year: the 24 Hours of Le Mans.  At the same time, the Thiriet by TDS Racing team allows the Oreca 05 to sign its first win, just a few months after the birth of the car…To finish, with this result, the team is now leading the championship.
