Thiriet by TDS Racing sets its sights in Austria

But what lies ahead won't be easy... after having contested the first two rounds of the season with a Morgan Nissan, the team is learning all about its new mount on a very different type of circuit. After the long straights of the Circuit des 24 Heures, it must now get used to, and set up the car for, a twisty track.

Pierre Thiriet, driver of the No.46:  “We have a car with a greater aerodynamic package than at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.  The "aero kit" is different in that it gives more downforce and more drag and that means less speed [on the straights]. The Red Bull Ring is a typical high downforce circuit.  That's nice from a driver's point of view because it allows for very fast cornering!  In addition, with a car that's more planted, it feels really nice to drive.”

Saturday was devoted mainly to the technical set up of this new car to suit the Red Bull Ring layout. Third fastest time in the second free practice session, just 64/100 from the top of the time sheets, proved that the team was moving in the right direction.  The French driver was therefore able to draw positives from progress so far: "For the two free practice sessions it was all about learning about this high downforce package.  Don't forget that we only know what we know about this car from Le Mans. Here, it's different. At the moment, it's gone well for us but it's difficult to do a time due to heavy traffic.” The start of the race will be at 14h00. Meanwhile, spectators and fans of European endurance racing will be free to come and meet the drivers in the paddock and the pit lane during the autograph session between 12h15 to 12h45.
