The no38 JOTA Sport Gibson-Nissan of Simon Dolan, which had been leading the race from pole position, had to pit just as the safety car was deployed to replace the front left wing which had become detached earlier in the lap at Variante Alta.
In LMGTE the no88 Proton Competition Porsche of Marco Mapelli was ahead of the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari of Robert Smith but both cars still had to serve their second stop. The class had been led by the no56 AT Racing Ferrari,w hich had started from pole position, but had dropped back after being push into a spin by the no3 Team LNT Ginetta of Charlie Robertson, with a stop and go penalty being given to Robertson for causing the collision.
Robertson had been leading the LMP3 class but a problem during a routine pitstop meant the Ginetta was pushed back into the garage and dropping the team down to fifth in class. The no15 SVK by Speed Factory Ginetta of Konstantin Calko was heading the class at the half way point in the race.
The pole position holders in GTC, the no63 AF Corse driven by Giorgio Roda, finished the first half of the race 13 seconds behind the no62 AF Corse 458 of Francesco Castellacci.
