ELMS - 10/05/2012
On 5th May eight teams racing in the European Le Mans Series took part in the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. Two put on stunning performances winning their category against stiff competition from the FIA WEC teams.
In LM P2, the Jota team's
Zytek Z11SN-Nissan driven by Dolan-Hancock won by a few seconds from the
Oreca-Nissan of Martin-Kerr-Graves entered by Alan Docking Racing.
In LM GTE Am, the IMSA Performance Matmut squad's Porsche in the hands of Armindo-Narac-Pons also shone taking the fight to the GTE Pros. It won its category by a minute from the identical car of Ried-Roda-Liberti.
Whether in LM P2 or in GTE
Am, the victory of the two European Le Mans Series teams in the face of tough
opposition from the FIA World Endurance Championship teams proves the very high
level of the 2012 ELMS field, which confirms its place as an indispensable
stepping stone to the top level in endurance racing.
This result bodes well for both teams, which came to Spa-Francorchamps to fine-tune their preparation for the blue riband event of the 2012 season, the Le Mans 24 Hours, in which they are both entered.
