ELMS - 11/07/2013
There will be 29 cars, 60 drivers and 14 nationalities represented on the grid for the 3 Hours of Red Bull Ring on 20th July. And, for its first appearance in the Styrian Alps, the organisers of the European Le Mans Series will be able to count on the entry of four Austrian drivers who will undoubtedly be the stars of the weekend.
At the wheel of the Boutsen Ginion Racing ORECA 03 will be Dominik Kraihamer who will be a favourite in the LMP2 category. After making his debut in karting, the Austrian went straight into GT racing, taking part notably in the 2008 FIA GT3 European Championship. He found his feet in sports prototypes in 2009 and 2010, driving a Formula Le Mans car for the Boutsen Ginion Racing team, and entered the 2011 Le Mans Series (the forerunner to the ELMS) with the same team. He was part of the OAK Racing WEC driver line up in 2012, and twice took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2011 and 2012). From Salzburg, Dominik Kraihamer is this year entered in the FIA World Endurance Championship in the No.32 Lotus T128 LMP2 car, sharing the car with German Thomas Holzer who will also be his team mate in the No.4 Boutsen Ginion Racing ORECA 03 Nissan next weekend.
Proton Competition will be entering an additional Porsche 911 GT3 RSR for the Austrian round, and the car will be driven by a 100% national line up. Young driver Klaus Bachler (23) began his GT career in 2012 with Porsche, taking part in several Porsche Carrera Cup and Supercup races. He will join Horst Felbermayr Junior and Senior in the German team. The father and son duo have a huge amount of experience in endurance racing, all with the Stuttgart-based marque, and enjoyed one of their best seasons to date in the 2011 Le Mans Series, winning the Circuit Paul Ricard round in the competitive LMGTE Am class and finishing third overall in the category.
Join us at the Red Bull Ring next week for the first ELMS endurance race to be in Austria – a country which has produced some of the greatest names in motorsport such as Niki Lauda, Gerhard Berger or Roland Ratzenberger.
