The #59 BMW Z4 GT3 got itself noticed during the free practices. Indeed, the car set the fastest time at the first free practice session before ending 3rd at the second one. On Sunday morning, Franck Perera was the quickest of the LMGTC category with a time of 1.58.396.
Starting from the pole position, Eric Dermont took a good start and was 2nd at the first corner. All throughout his stint, he was either 2nd or 3rd without losing too much ground on the leader. After his good stint, he passed the wheel on to Dino Lunardi. This latter, 2nd, was two seconds quicker than the leader. So he narrowed the gap and finally took advantage of the safety car entering the track to get back into the match.
At the restart, Dino overtook the leader and took the lead. From that particular instant, the BMW never left this place anymore. The stints held one after another between Dino Lunardi and Eric Dermont. Still in the lead after 3 hours and 15 minutes, Franck Perera got on the car to finish the work. At the end of a good race, the #59 BMW Z4 GT3 of the TDS Racing team claimed the second victory of the season after the one won at Silverstone!
The drivers did not make any mistake and the the technicians were perfect as usual. By the way, with this victory, Eric Dermont, Dino Lunardi and Franck Perera widened the gap at the championship and now have 13 points ahead of its most serious competitor. Everything will be played at the European Le Mans Series at Estoril (Portugal), on 18th October.
Eric Dermont : “This victory is the final result of all we have been building for several months. We were already at Le Castellet 10 days ago to prepare our race. We kept focused on our targets. Everything was ready and built to avoid the different hazards. Everything is following on from our preparation: our tests, Franck’s pole position, our different stints, our victory and the podium. We handled our gap with our competitors from the perspective of the last race and a potential title because there's everything left to play for! There is still work to be done. Everybody does a great job from the drivers themselves, the management of the pit stops and the work of the mechanics. Everybody participated in this final victory, it was a real team work.”
