ELMS - 26/09/2018 - Sophie LIGER

Overall winners – n°22 United Autosports JSP 217

Phil Hanson

“My first tint was tricky, but it was the same for everyone, we were all struggling, trying to read the track and the grip levels and it took me a while to get going. Luckily, we get a really good call to get Filipe in the car early, betting on the fact that the weather will get worse and that the race will stop as soon as we reached the 2 hours marks to get half of the points.”

Filipe Albuquerque

“Phil was taking in easy at the beginning and when I got in the car the conditions were really tricky, especially Eau Rouge that took me some time to get up to the limit because once you lose it there you are done. We knew that we could have a good car and thanks to the strategy call we were leading, I was able to do some good laps and the pace was there. But due to the condition I was just trying to survive out there, there were a lot of water even behind the safety car.”

LMP3 winners – n°2 United Autosports Ligier JS P3

Scott Andrews – United Autosports

“I did not exactly expect a win this weekend, but we knew John and I could definitely get a good result. I can’t really believe it; a huge thanks to United Autosports, they did a really great job and had a solid strategy. I think the conditions today were probably the worst I have ever seen, the visibility was close to zero; you could barely see a thing. For my last four laps, before the safety car came in and the red flag, I was really struggling the stay straight.”

John Falb – United Autosports

“I’m ecstatic, we’ve had a great car, a great pace all season but we just haven’t had everything to come together for us. We are unfortunate that Sean (Rayhall) could not make it this weekend, in fact it was his idea to get Scott in the car and Scott did a mega job, right on pace, coming up through the field. We finally got a win, which is fantastic.”

LMGTE Winners – n°80 Ebimotors Porsche 911 RSR

Riccardo Pera

“It was a really good race, with difficult conditions. The conditions at the start were quite stable but then the rain was heavier, and it was hard to maintain the car on track. We were lucky that the race stopped at that point and we could get the win. It’s the first win for the team this season and I want to thank Ebimotors and my two teammates.”

Fabio Babini

“I’m really happy for Ebimotors and my teammate with this first win. Our strategy was good, the car was really fast at the beginning of the race but when I jumped in, the conditions were really tricky, the track was dangerous, and it was hard to go flat out in 5th or 6th gear. I was really happy when the red flag came because it was really hard even behind the safety car.”

Bret Curtis

“When the safety car went out, the team told me to get ready, I had my helmet on, ready to go. I really wanted to get in the car and help the team. Honestly, I’m really happy for my teammates, they did a great job. Riccardo and Fabio drove really well in difficult conditions. Hopefully next time in Portimão I get to contribute!”
