Hydrogen on track with Mission H24

ELMS - 22/09/2018 - Press release - Automobile Club de l'Ouest

On Saturday 22 September, the fifth round in the European Le Mans Series at Spa-Francorchamps provided the backdrop to a world début: a hydrogen-powered racing car in action on track and a fuel stop demonstration.

To mark the occasion, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) teamed up with GreenGT to launch a series of bottles of water – the only emission produced by the GreenGT LM PH2G, the hydrogen-powered racing machine that took to the track at Spa-Francorchamps.

In launching Mission H24 during the European Le Mans Series, the ACO and GreenGT make clear their commitment to promoting and developing hydrogen-powered vehicles, the ultimate goal being to include the trailblazing technology at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024.

Yannick Dalmas, four-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and driver of the leading car, took the wheel for the demonstration – the ideal opportunity to emphasise the simplicity, reliability and incredible racing potential of hydrogen power.

Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest: “Hydrogen is the future because we are aiming for zero-emission mobility. It is our role to develop high-performance, environmentally friendly technologies.”

Mission H24 will be promoting hydrogen throughout the project, with several milestones already mapped out. The next one is at Mondial Tech, the BtoB event at the Paris Motor Show on 5 October.
