Graff Take Top Spot in FP1 at Spa

The Graff prepared no39 Oreca 07-Gibson finished the first free practice session ahead of Sunday’s 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps with the fastest lap of the day. The session was finished early after the no28 IDEC Sport Racing Ligier-Gibson of Paul Lafargue hit the barrier at T5 and the practice session was red flagged 7 minutes before the chequered flag to allow repairs to be carried out.

Jonathan Hirschi posted the fastest LMP2 time in the Graff Ligier with the Swiss driver lapping the 7km Spa-Francorchamps circuit in 2m04.796, just 0.036 seconds faster than Ben Hanley in the no21 Dragonspeed Oreca.  Championship contenders United Autosports were third quickest with Hugo de Sadeleer posting a 2m05.405 lap in the no32 Ligier-Gibson.

Championship leaders G-Drive Racing were only 9th quickest, with Memo Rojas posting the best time of 2m07.319 for the no22 Oreca, 2.5 seconds off the pace.

The no9 AT Racing Ligier JS P3-Nissan was the quickest of the 17 entries in the LMP3 class, with Mikkel Jensen setting a 2m15.004, 0.331s ahead of the no3 United Autoports Ligier of Wayne Boyd.  Championship leaders John Falb and Sean Rayhall were third quickest in the no2 United Autosports Ligier, with Rayhall posting a 2m15.485 lap, 0.481s behind the lead car.

The no77 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR was the fastest of the six LMGTE entries, Matteo Cairoli setting a blistering 2m17.888 lap, 2.4 seconds ahead of the no99 Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage with Daren Turner posting a 2m20.292.  The championship leading no90 TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage was third quickest with Nicki Thiim setting a 2m21.096.

Free Practice 2 for the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will take place tomorrow morning at 09h55.
