Some changes for Formula Le Mans in 2012

ELMS - 15/09/2011

Still in the Le Mans Series 2012 calendar alongside LMP2s, the Oreca 09 FLMs will be part of a new trophy that will reward the winning team with an invitation to the LMP2 class for the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours and winning drivers will receive a prize of 45 000€ to be spent in an LMP1 or LMP2 drive at Le Mans 24 Hours. The 1st three finishers will also receive prizes such as spare parts and Michelin tyres.

Furthermore Formula Le Mans will now be named Le Mans Prototype Challenge (LMPC like in ALMS). This change is to help understanding the category, created to become a true ladder series for Endurance, which cannot be overlooked by teams and drivers expecting to access the highest level of endurance sportscar racing.

Homologated until 2014, the Oreca 09 FLM will not exceed 260 000€, engine included, will be equipped with a regulation shark fin and is eligible to participate in the Le Mans 24 Hours Test Day on June 3rd, 2012.
