Meeting up with Timothé Buret – Panis Barthez Competition

ELMS - 09/07/2016

Timothé Buret, a talented French young driver, is competing for the first time in ELMS with Panis-Barthez Competition. Last month he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished in 12th position overall with his teammates Fabien Barthez and Paul Loup Chatin. We talk to Timothé about the challenges that he will have to face for the rest of the 2016 season.

With a solid result at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has this helped you to prepare for the rest of the ELMS season?

To achieve our target in Le Mans, which was to cross the finish line with a strong result, gave us more confidence for the rest of the season. All these days of work has made us even closer to each other; we really enjoy working all together and we are learning more and more. As a driver and a rookie it’s a great opportunity to work in such a team where every member has something to bring. I learnt a lot and it will be a real advantage for the next step of my first season in ELMS.

Have you ever driven at the Red Bull Ring? If yes, what do you like about this track? If no, what will be your approach of the famous track?

One more time, I will discover a new track. I have just discovered it through the sim sessions I have done. I’m really looking forward to be there because for what I have seen the Red Bull Ring seems to have a lot of elevation changes and this a feature that I like for a circuit.

What will be your biggest challenge in the last four races of the season?

Our challenge is to keep doing what we have done and to keep going forward thanks to what we have learn at the beginning of the season and at Le Mans.  We are focused on being faster without making mistakes. I’m lucky to have been surrounded by Olivier Panis, Renaud Derlot, Sarah and Simon Abadie who are sharing their experience with me. I’m really close to my teammates and the technical team. There are always giving me tips to allow me to learn more and more at every race.

What is your favourite circuit of the ELMS calendar? And why?

Among the track that I have discovered in ELMS, I had a lot of pleasure to race at Silverstone. But I have to admit that I’m really looking forward to go to Spa. Beyond the fact it is a mythical track, I have seen strong battles there in every category and I can’t wait to take part to a race there in September. But for now, I’m looking forward to see the Panis-Barthez competition staff again and I’m focussing in our weekend in Austria.
