Meeting up with Salih Yoluc (TF Sport – n°90 Aston Martin Vantage)

ELMS - 09/02/2017

Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup Drivers’ Vice Champion Salih Yoluc will move up to a full season campaign in the LMGTE class of the ELMS in 2017. The Turk will once again drive with GT3 Le Mans Cup team champion TF Sport, his championship winning team from last year. His teammates in the Aston Martin V8 Vantage will be his fellow Vice Champion Euan Hankey and reigning LMGTE World Champion Nicki Thiim. We caught up with Salih Yoluc to ask him a few questions ahead of the new season.

Q: Welcome to the ELMS.  Was the progression from the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup to the ELMS a natural one after TF Sport won the inaugural title last year?

Thank you. Yes I guess it was inevitable to upgrade to the top of the GT world after winning the title really.

Q: How different is the Aston Martin GTE car going to be compared to the GT3 car you raced last year?

It’s quite a bit different. GTE feels much more like a race car and it has much more feeling. Quite a lot more fun.

Q: Do you think racing with TF Sport again in 2017 will help your preparations for the ELMS season?

Of course, team plays such a massive role in your success and in your failure, looking forward to get more titles and trophies with them.
Q: You will also compete in the LMGTE Am at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2017, how important is that race to you as a driver?

It is the most important race for me ever.

Q: Do you think that racing in the ‘Road to Le Mans’ in 2016 will help you prepare for the big race this year?

Yes of course, I find myself driving and racing much better on a track after my 1st time there. Surely it will be a help.

Q: Of the six race circuits on the ELMS calendar, which are you looking forward to the most and why?

All of them are quite exciting, the only one I haven’t been yet is Portimão but I think Paul Ricard is the one I’m most looking forward to. Last year we did 3 races there and even though we were always very fast, we couldn’t get the results we deserved because of mistakes and a bit of unlucky racing incidents. This year I believe we should sort it out.
