Interview with the LMGTE 2018 Champions

ELMS - 16/11/2018 - Sophie LIGER

Gianluca et Giorgio Roda made history by becoming the first duo father and son to be crowned ELMS champions at the wheel of the n°88 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR. They teamed up with Matteo Cairoli, that is third in the LMGTE classification as he missed the race at Monza. Here are the first impressions of our 2018 LMGTE champions.

Gianluca Roda: “It was a difficult season but at the end we won the championship and I’m very happy. Many thanks to my team Proton Competition, Christian (Ried) and of course my son and Matteo (Cairoli). I was determinate and the race in Portimão was important for me because I don’t’ know if I would be able to race another year, I’m old you know.”

Giorgio Roda: “It was not an easy season but still a nice one with up and down and at the end we won the championship. I’m glad to enter the ELMS history with my father and be the first father and son duo to be ELMS champion. It’s also the first championship won by the new Porsche 911 RSR so it’s good news for Porsche. And I would like to thank Proton Competition and my teammates for their amazing job. I’m also sorry for Matteo (Cairoli) because he could not win the championship but for us it’s as if he won because we shared the car for all the races but Monza.”
