ELMS - 14/02/2017
We have caught up with James to get to know him a bit better before the start of the season.
Q: What attracted you to race in ELMS this season?
I’ve always been a fan of prototype race cars and endurance racing and now, after several years of open wheel racing, I feel like I’m ready to move to LMP2.
Q: Last season you competed in Europe in Formula Renault 2.0. As an Australian how have you found the transition to European tracks?
I came to Europe to race cars straight after I finished karting so I haven’t really had any experience on Australian race tracks.
Q: You are now embarking on your debut season of endurance racing in LMP2 with Graff. Why have you decided to move from single seaters to prototypes?
Endurance has always been where I’d like to be in racing. Now that I have some experience in racing, it felt like the right time to switch.
Q: You are also on the entry list for the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans. How important is that race to your racing career?
It’s very important. As a fan of endurance racing, the 24 Hours of Le Mans has always been a dream of mine. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to compete in it.
Q: Of the six race circuits on the ELMS calendar, which are you looking forward to the most and why?
The race I’m most looking forward to would have to be the 4 Hours of Spa. It would probably have to be my favourite track that I’ve driven on so far and was able to have some of my best results there during last season.
