Questions & Answers with Oliver TURVEY - Jota Sport - Zytek Z11SN n°38 - LMP2
1) After the Red Bull Ring event, what did you do to keep fit during the summer break?
After the last race at the Red Bull Ring, I was back in the simulator for McLaren before going to the Hungarian GP with the team as reserve driver. During the summer break to keep fit I rode for charity in Ride London which was a 100 mile sportive on the Olympic road race course!
2) We will discover two special tracks until the end of the season: Hungaroring, a Formula 1 circuit, and the Paul Ricard, a modern and safety reference in motorsports. Have you raced on these before and what can you say about these tracks?
I have raced at the Hungaroring in GP2, World Series & Formula Renault, it is a very challenging tight circuit with some flowing corners. I have always enjoyed racing at the Hungaroring where it is usually very hot! I have never raced at Paul Ricard although we did have a pre-season test there and have tested in single seater categories there. It is very different to the Hungaroring, with wide open corners and should allow for some exciting racing.
3) We have two races to the end of the 2013 ELMS season, how do you see the near future and what are expectations?
First of all, I would like to thank Jota Sport for this opportunity to race in the ELMS this season. I am pleased to have taken pole position in all three rounds of the ELMS so far, so my personal aim is to continue this run of pole positions. In terms of the races, the team, Simon and I are aiming to get back on to the top step of the podium like we achieved at the first round in Silverstone!
4) After three races with more cars, more drivers, more races, what do you think about the success of the new 2013 ELMS format?
As this is my first season racing in the ELMS, I do not have any comparison to the old format; however I have been very impressed with the series and format of the race weekends. I have really enjoyed my first season of ELMS which has been a challenging and competitive series at some fantastic circuits.
