ELMS - 22/08/2013
Two more races to come to the end of the 2013 ELMS season and we have taken the time to ask drivers about the championship, the races to come and their point of view concerning the new format of the races.
Questions & Answers with Brendon Hartley - Murphy Prototype ELMS Driver - ORECA03 Nissan n°18 - LMP2
1) After the Red Bull Ring event, what did you do to keep fit during the summer break?
I have had three races in the Rolex series in the US. I would say that competing in races all year long keeps you race fit.
2) We will discover two special tracks until the end of the season: Hungaroring, a Formula 1 circuit, and the Paul Ricard, a modern and safety reference in motorsports. Have you raced on these before and what can you say about these tracks?
I have raced on both circuits before and love them both. I much prefer older style tracks like Hungaroring and Red Bull Ring where there is more risk and the brave and consistent are rewarded.
3) We have two races to the end of the 2013 ELMS season, how do you see the near future and what are expectations?
I am very much looking forward to Hungaroring, The Murphy Prototype car was superb in Red Bull Ring, and with Jonathan joining us again I believe we have a great chance to win the race. Red Bull Ring was devastating when the starter failed, we will fight back!
4) After three races with more cars, more drivers, more races, what do you think about the success of the new 2013 ELMS format?
I think it works very well and is extremely competitive. Although I love longer races, 3 hours is still very much an endurance race but in other ways it's a sprint with every driver pushing 100 percent for 3 hours, I think this keeps it exciting for the fans and spectators.
