Brits Claim Pole for 4 Hours of Silverstone

After early morning rain the second qualifying session of the 4 Hours of Silverstone weekend saw the sun shining once again and a dry track for the Le Mans Prototypes to set the grid for this afternoon’s race.

The pole position was claimed by the Nissan powered Gibson 015S run by Greaves Motorsport with Jon Lancaster posting a 1m48.752 lap, 0.4 seconds ahead the JOTA Sport Gibson Nissan and 0.6 seconds ahead of the third placed no46 Thiriet by TDS Racing Oreca 05-Nissan of Tristan Gommendy.  The no38 JOTA Sport Gibson-Nissan of Harry Tincknell went off the track into the gravel after his first flying lap.  The Englishman had to clean his tyres and posted the second fastest time of the session on his very last lap.

Charlie Robertson made endurance racing history by claiming the first ever pole position in the LMP3 class, the Scot setting a 1m59.892 lap in the no3 Team LNT Ginetta-Nissan putting himself and teammate Sir Chris Hoy at the head of the P3 grid.  The no2 Team LNT Ginetta of Michael Simpson will line up alongside ‘Team Scotland’ at the start of the 4 Hours of Silverstone which gets underway at 14h30 local.
