4 Hours of Estoril Launch in Cascais Town Hall, Portugal

ELMS - 10/09/2015

The final race of the 2015 ELMS season, the 4 Hours of Estoril, was yesterday launched to the Portuguese local media in Cascais’ Town Hill. Present were Cascais Mayor Carlos Carreiras , the Portuguese Automotive and Karting Federation (FPAK) President, Manuel de Mello Breyner, ELMS CEO Gérard Neveu, President of ACDME (The Stewards Committee at Estoril circuit), Carlos Lisboa , ELMS Race Director Eduardo Freitas and some additional guests. The weekend of racing will take place on 17/18th October.

Just one month before the season’s finale, all the key figures in the organisation were able to demonstrate their desire to develop the event further, and to make it a reference point for excellence on a national and international level.

Carlos Carreiras, Mayor of Cascais:  “Everyone within the municipality of Cascais is very much emotionally involved in the success of the event, and even more so because one of our Portuguese drivers not only has a real chance of winning the race but also of becoming 2015 champion. The 4 Hours of Estoril will be a real celebration of motorsport. The Town Hall is also very much involved because we want to show how much of an important value motorsports has to Cascais. We are involved with ELMS because of our passion for motorsports but also because we want to showcase our village on the world stage.”

Manuel de Mello Breyner, President of FPAK: “As a Federation, our mission is to bring the most important and valuable motorsport events to our country, and this is the case with the European Le Mans Series. Motorsport activities form an integral part of Cascais and Estoril’s identities, but the 4 Hours of Estoril is not just a race, it is great celebration of motorsport.”

Gérard Neveu, ELMS CEO:  “We have always been very well welcome in Cascais and at the Estoril circuit, and this is one of the reasons why we have insisted that this race meeting remains as the grand finale of our championship and also the fantastic venue for our end-of-season Prize Giving. Estoril is also a race track with a great deal of motorsport history, and our drivers like this race track. We hope many of you will join us in October at Estoril to share in our passion for motorsport and endurance racing.”

Carlos Lisboa, President of ACDME, organiser and promoter of the Portuguese event:  “2014 was a great success, and we want it to be even better in 2015.  Our goal is to really bring the Spirit of Le Mans to Estoril. We have worked on everything outside the race itself such as the Fun Zone, exhibitions, entertainments, transports, food and beverages and so on.  Our aim is to welcome even more fans than last year, and above all to make sure they want to come again and again.”

Eduardo Freitas, ELMS Race Director: “The Estoril race track is very different to all other tracks that our drivers are used to, and that makes a great difference. We want to engender the Spirit of Le Mans here and we hope to this year welcome more fans and spectators than ever. I was born in, and live in, Cascais and I am very proud of all the races organised by the Estoril Circuit.”
