On Ferrari territory

ELMS - 02/07/2011

The distance covered by the Ferraris ‘della casa Automobilistica di Maranello' to the circuit entrance is less than one hundred kilometers. In the region of Bologna the Prancing Horse is a religion.

Today, six Ferrari F458 Italias and four Ferrari F430s are taking part in practice for the Imola 6 Hours on the Enzo é Dino Ferrari circuit named after the founder of the make and his son. All the drivers in the cars feel the same pride competing in a Ferrari in Italy: “Of course, it's special,” confirms James Walker just before getting into the JMW Motorsport F458 Italia. “Driving a Ferrari in Italy is an honour. In such conditions you always hope that you'll be up to the job in terms of performance.”

Gimmi Bruni, one of the AF Corse drivers and thus very close to the Scuderia says: “For me it's an honour to carry the colours of such a prestigious make as Ferrari.”

Ferrari did not miss the opportunity to show its attachment to endurance by organizing a press conference on Tuesday in the Ferrari museum, in the presence of representatives of the make and the circuit. The 166 MM that won the 1949 Le Mans 24 Hours on its debut was on display alongside the AF Corse Ferrari F458.
