New LMP2 Lap Record for Fjordbach at End of Day One of Test

Anders Fjordbach set the fastest time of the first day of the European Le Mans Series official test at the Circuit Paul Ricard, the Dane setting a 1m40.404 in the third and final session of the day.

The lap in the no20 High Class Racing Oreca-Gibson is the best ever time for an LMP2 car on the 5.791km circuit, beating the previous best by 0.6 seconds.

Fjordbach finished the day ahead of the no37 Cool Racing Oreca, with Nico Lapierre setting a 1m40.725 lap in the afternoon session, with Paul Loup Chatin third quickest in the no28 Idec Sport Oreca, the former ELMS Champion setting a 1m40.747 in the morning session.

In LMP3 it was the no10 Oregon Team Norma-Nissan that set the fastest time of the day.  Damiani Fioravanti lapped the Circuit Paul Ricard in 1m49.500 in the third session, 0.740 ahead of Matthieu Lahaye in the no17 Ultimate Norma.

The no60 Kessel Racing Ferrari was the fastest of the LMGTE competitors, with Andrea Piccini posting a 1m53.288 lap, just 0.123 ahead of the no51 Luzich Racing F488 of Nicklas Nielsen.

Testing will recommence tomorrow morning at 09h00 for the first of two session on Tuesday 9 April.
