Nielsen Racing raising money for the NHS

LM P3 - 20/04/2020 - Sophie LIGER

David Thompson, better known in the European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup paddock as “Sven” is launching a fundraising to collect money to help the NHS (the UK National Health Service) and the front line workers that are fighting everyday against the Covid19, to save lives while risking their own.

David Thompson “Sven”, Nielsen Racing Team Manager said, "Nielsen Racing is closed down completely now, following the goverment COVID-19 guidelines. All our staff is ok, healthy, and well looked after. Our LMP3 cars have been upgraded up to 2020 speck, and we are ready to go back on track again within a couple of weeks’ notice. This is the biggest year the team has ever had, including our first 24 Hours of Le Mans on top of ELMS, Le Mans Cup, and our US programme.

“I wanted to do something during this period, and I decided to help raise funds for NHS charities, for those who are on the front line of this crisis, going above and beyond to save people. They are not giving up, and that is the same mentality I drill into the team.

“I have aimed for the 1000 KM as it was the distance we had to cover when I was an LMP2 number 2 mechanic back in the Le Mans Endurance Series/ELMS in 2005 and 2006. I thought it's a nice figure! I've only put a small-ish target, but I would love to smash it and see how much we can get for our healthcare workers!"
