Nicolas Lapierre – a top-class coach in LM P2!

ELMS - 02/04/2011

Nicolas Lapierre, ORECA driver in LM P1, who recently won the Sebring 12 Hours, is at Le Castellet this weekend.  The man from Thonon-les-Bains is advising the drivers in the Oreca 03s in LM P2. TDS Racing and Boutsen Energy Racing, two new teams in LM P2 with Oreca 03 chassis, have made a great start in the category setting the two quickest times in qualifying for the Le Castellet 6 Hours.  While Mathias Beche and Dominik Kraihamer are both very talented drivers, Lapierre's advice has also played a part in this success.

The ORECA driver, who has just won the American classic, the Sebring 12 Hours, in his Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, has given the drivers racing the Oreca 03s the benefit of his experience. “I took part in the development of the car and I know it pretty well, especially on this circuit on which I've covered a lot of laps,” he explains. “I'm trying to help them with my know-how to find the best way to drive and set up the car.”

But Lapierre, who knows the Signes circuit like the back of his hand, isn't used to being there and not driving. “It's rather frustrating not to be racing, but it's an interesting job. I know this car inside out, all the more so as it's based on the Oreca 01 in which we've done a great deal of racing. It's got tremendous potential.”
