My Green Lord!

ELMS - 11/09/2010

After the first free practice, Team Drayson Racing has hosted us under their awning to share with us their thoughts about this final, and first ILMC, race. The two drivers, Lord Paul Drayson and Jonny Cocker, together with their Team Manager Dale White have answered to our questions.

Lord Paul Drayson, former British government minister, takes benefit of the round in his fatherland to live his passion « Before I was in politics, I was working in the biotechnology industry. Now I'm concentrating 100% on racing and I am looking to put more emphasis on technology development in racing. There is a huge opportunity in motorsport to apply the use of fuels like bio-ethanol.»

Relying on his government member status, the driver does not take any advantage from it on the track: " It doesn't make any difference when you are out on track or when I go to race meetings. However, it does give me a perspective on how racing is seen by others outside motorsport. It also gives me an opportunity to champion this sport within politics."

The Team Drayson, present in the series in 2009 in the LMGT2 category, participates for the first time in this year's Le Mans Series, together with the ILMC first round, and in the LMP1 category. Dale White likes this new challenge «Everything has to go perfectly for us, but I've beaten works teams before. I know it can be done.». Jonny Cocker, is more used to the ALMS, notably after his victory at Road America. He will make its debut in the European series' LMP1 category « The pace of the cars and drivers is very similar, but there are more cars in Europe. Everyone knows the diesel cars are going to be very fast, but we are coming here and pushing to be the leading petrol-powered car. I'm confident that we can do that. I'm looking forward to coming over from the US and showing that we are a serious race team.»

Team Drayson Racing is very keen to surprise us and will endeavour to show it tomorrow.
