Morand Racing - So proud to cross the finishing line

ELMS - 25/06/2013

Morand Racing truly achieves an amazing result for their very first involvement in Le Mans 24 Hours. Natacha Gachnang with partners Franck Mailleux and Olivier Lombard crossed the finishing line in overall 12th position as well as being 6th in LMP2 category.

Difficult weather conditions and numerous incidents made this Le Mans 24 Hours 90th edition a very demanding and exhausting one both for men and mechanics. But the Swiss-French trio has managed to perform 320 laps, namely a global mileage of more than 3100 kilometers during the 24 hours long race. Today, Morand Racing has been the best representative of the European Le Mans Series contenders as well as being first of the cars powered by Judd.

Benoît Morand - Team Manager « Pride is the very first word that comes across my mind! We are indeed proud of this result and proud of our team! We have worked relentlessly over the past four months with no single day off! This achievement … this checkered flag … are amazing and I am at a loss for words! Our drivers all did an amazing job: Natacha, Franck and Olivier have been fantastic all along the race. Both our engineers and mechanics also knew how to make the right decisions at the right time so that this result sounds like victory for all of us. Our Onroak-Dunlop-Judd package was more than reliable! Just think! At the end of our third race, we can say we finished Le Mans! »

Joe Genoud - Manager « Viewing Natacha under the checkered flag right after 3 pm was an amazing feeling. Everybody has worked so hard to get this result! Benoit and I would like to express our thanks to our team, our drivers and partners. As usual, we wouldn't have been able to achieve anything without their dedication! Everybody has done an amazing job in tricky and stressful conditions but the result is truly stunning! Thanks to all of you from the bottom of my heart! »

Franck Mailleux « It probably is the hardest edition I have ever raced in! It was madness in such weather and unpredictable weather conditions and also because of the traffic. But at the end of it all, what a result for such a young team! It was our aim to gain experience by covering all the laps and to increase our confidence by doing so: what I would call growing up as a team! And we did so even if weather and track conditions made it nearly impossible to find the right rhythm. »

Natacha Gachnang « Our main goal, our main priority was to finish the race and this we did! And we did so even if we got no help from the weather, quite the contrary as a matter of fact from the very first lap to the very end of the race! Crossing the finishing line is an amazing feeling that goes with a mixture of such satisfaction and … relief too! Because today it could well rain in the Hunaudieres but not on the start-finishing line, which did not make things easy, to say the least! I always had to bear in mind that pushing hard wasn't the best thing to do! But this result we achieved is amazing, not only for the drivers we are but for everybody involved in our structure. »

Olivier Lombard « It is so thrilling to see the checkered flag after such a difficult race. It was stressful from the beginning to the very end for my teammates and me but the whole team has known how to cope with all the difficulties we encountered . »

The Morand Racing, drivers, owners and partners offer their deepest sympathy to the family of Allan Simonsen, the Danish driver who was racing for Aston Martin and who met his death when living his passion to the full as we all do.
