ELMS - 05/05/2017
An action packed four hour race at Silverstone in the opening round of the season three weeks ago emphasised the competitiveness of the 2017 field and more drama is on offer on the fast 5.8km Monza track.
LMP2 features new technical regulations this season with four different chassis manufacturers, including the Italian built Dallara, all powered by the Gibson Technology 4.2l engine.
LMP3 offers teams and drivers a cost effective first step into prototype racing. The teams can choose from a variety of chassis manufacturers, each powered by the same Nissan engine.
LMGTE is where fans can see iconic manufacturers Ferrari, Aston Martin and Porsche go head to head on track.
After the first round of the season in Silverstone, United Autosports is now leading the LMP2 and LMP3 classes with 25 points for the Ligier JS P217 n°32 and the Ligier JS P3 n°3. In LMP2 the Anglo-American team is followed by G-Drive Racing with 18 points and the new team in ELMS, High Class Racing with the Dallara P217 n°49, in third place with 15 points. The LMP2 classification emphasises the diversity of the championship with three different chassis at the top.
In LMP3, Ultimate is in second position with 18 points and in third car is the no2 United Autosports Ligier with 16 points.
In Silverstone, the LMGTE lass saw the victory at home for the 2016 Michelin Le Mans Cup champions TF Sport with their n°90 Aston Martin Vantage. Just behind is the Porsche n°77 of Proton Competition which gathered 18 points in the UK and in third position is the Aston Martin Vantage n°99 of Beechdean AMR.
Monza promises to be the perfect stage for an epic four-hour battle, with the winners standing on the top of the most legendary podiums in motorsport.
