New Lap Records Set in Final Free Practice Sesssion at Monza

Paul Loup Chatin posted a time of 1m35.701, beating the previous best lap of 1m35.837, which had been set by Ben Hanley in the Dragonspeed Oreca during qualifying for the 2018 race.

The session was interrupted by a long red flag period after the no34 Inter Europol Competition Ligier of Leo Roussel went off at Parabolicia into the barriers.  The barriers had to be repaired before the session could resume.  Roussel got out of the car on his own but was taken to the medical centre and then to hospital for precautionary checks.

The session resumed and was extended to make up for some of the lost time during the red flag.

The no43 RLR MSport was second quickest overall, with Arjun Maini posting a 1m35.815 lap of the 5.7 track, 0.114s behind Chatin and 0.2 seconds ahead of the third placed car, the no26 G-Drive Racing Aurus 01-Gibson.

In LMP3 it was the no9 Realteam Racing out in front with David Droux setting a 1m46.531 lap just 0.036 seconds faster than Damiano Fioravanti in the no10 Oregon Team Norma M30.  This time was over a second slower than the best LMP3 time in FP1, which was set by Fioravanti.

The no77 Dempsey Proton Racing Porsche posted the best time of the Monza weekend so far with Matteo Cairoli lap of 1m47.098 also faster than the best time set in 2018 by four tenths.  It was a Porsche 1-2 with the no56 Team Project 1 finishing the session four tenths behind the lead car on a 1m47.444 lap of the Monza circuit.

Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Monza will take place this afternoon at the scheduled time of 13h40 (CET), starting with LMGTE, followed by LMP3 and concluding with LMP2.
