Hot start in this last and windy session, with a spectacular fire on Spyker n°94. The driver Andrea Chiesa is safe, but the car was completely destroyed by fire.
The Lucchini Judd n°30 is finally able to run. No other problems to report, and several improvement are made, the most noticeable being the Epsilon Euskadi n°20.
Highlights of the Monday afternoon :
2:28 PM – After an engine fire, the Spyker n°94 ablazed in the final turn before the pitlane. The pilot goes out by himself, but, in spite of the firemen intervention, the car is completely burned down. The red flag is on until 3:00 PM.
At 3:13 PM, the Pescarolo comes back to pits at reduced speed.
At 3:18, two collisions in less than one minute, the first one between the Aston Martin n°007 and the Ferrari n°99, the second between the Ferrari n°96 and the Corvette n°72. The Corvette had troubles with its left door for the rest of the session.
At 3:40 PM, the Ferrari n°96 blew its rear left tyre.
At 4:30 PM, the Corvette n°73 stopped in the Mistral straight, with gearbox problems. The red flag is on for four minutes.
