Cars Back On Track For Day Two of Testing

ELMS - 10/04/2018 - Jeff CARTER

The opening session of the second day of the 2018 European Le Mans Series Official Test saw extremes of weather. The morning session started on a wet track with light rain, which then turned heavy and then hailstones fell for a few minutes forcing everyone to take cover. The 4 Hour session finished on a dry track after the sun made a brief appearance towards the end of the morning.

On the drying track surface the best times were set at the chequered flag, with Gustavo Menezes setting the fastest session time of 1m44.537 in the no31 APR-Rebellion Racing Oreca, 0.1s ahead of Victor Shaitar in the no 35 SMP Racing Dallara.

The no2 United Autosports Ligier was the quickest of the LMP3 contingent, with Sean Rayhall posting a 1m53.651, 0.5 seconds faster than the second fastest P3 car of Kay Van Berlo in the no11 Eurointernational Ligier.

The no83 Krohn Racing Ferrari was the fastest LMGTE car on track with Andrea Bertolini taking the top spot with a 1m59.535.

The fifth and final test session will begin at 14h00 CET and will conclude the final day of testing ahead of Round 1 of the 2018 season, the 4 Hours of Le Castellet on Sunday 15 April.
