Testing Complete at Monza - Let Battle Commence at Silverstone

ELMS - 29/03/2017 - Jeff CARTER

With the two day Official Test at Monza complete the focus of the ELMS paddock will now be on the first race in Silverstone on Saturday 15 April. Under blue skies and bright sunshine, the past two days have allowed all of the teams to gather some much needed data in perfect weather conditions.

While the teams and drivers were all concentrating on their own programme, inevitably all eyes will be on who set the fastest times during the five sessions.

In LMP2 the fastest car of the two days was the no28 IDEC Sport Racing Ligier JSP217-Gibson when Patrice Lafargue set a 1m36.461 lap of the 5.8km track in the morning session on day 2.  The two Graff Oreca 07s were quickest in three of the five sessions, with Enzo Guibbert in the no40 car setting the best time in the afternoon session on the second day, just 0.4 seconds slower than the IDEC Ligier’s earlier time.  The no21 Dragonspeed Oreca 07 was the other car that topped the time sheets, with Ben Hanley posting the lap time.

In LMP3, reigning champions United Autosports head home with the fastest class time thanks to a 1m45.219 by Sean Rayhall in the morning session on the second day of the test.  The no9 AT Racing Ligier was quickest in two of the five sessions, 0.4 seconds slower than the United Autosports Ligier.  The no16 Panis Barthez Competition Ligier and the no18 M.Racing-YMR Ligier were the  two other cars to top the time sheets.

In LMGTE the class honours went to the no90 TF Sport Aston Martin in the first session when Salih Yoluc set a 1m48.720 lap that wasn’t bettered during the rest of the test.  The no99 Beechdean AMR Vantage was quickest in two of the sessions and the test was concluded with the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 at the top of the time sheets in the final 3-hour session at Monza.

The teams and drivers are now all set for the first round of the season that will be held in Silverstone on the 15th April.
