ELMS - 26/01/2018 - Sophie LIGER
At the end of the 2017 season, four ELMS teams were automatically invited on the grid of the 2018 edition of the mythical race on the 16th and 17th June.
G-Drive Racing, 2017 ELMS champions received an invitation for the LMP2 class, as did United Autosports, the LMP3 European Champions. The LMP3 class cars are not eligible for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, so the Anglo-American team’s invitation is for the LMP2 grid.
In LMGTE, two invitations are offered in ELMS. JMW Motorsport, ELMS class champions, will receive two invitations for the most famous Endurance race in the world because the British team also won the LMGTE AM class at the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans. Another British team, TF Sport, finished second in the LMGTE category at the end of the 2017 season and will also get the opportunity to be at the start of the 86th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Each invitation will only be confirmed if the car in question is entered in one of the following championships in 2018: European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and the IMSA WeatherTechSportsCar Championship.
