Thiriet by TDS Racing Leading After 2 Hours of Racing

ELMS - 28/08/2016

The no46 Thiriet by TDS Racing Oreca-Nissan was holding a 66 second lead as the clock went past the 2-hour mark of the 4 Hours of Le Castellet.

Pierre Thiriet pitted from the lead of the race during a Full Course Yellow to recover the no15 RLR Motorsport of Ross Warburton which had landed in the barriers at the last corner.  This extended the French team’s lead to over a minute from the no32 SMP Racing BR01 of Julian Leal, the Columbian coming under pressure from the charging Simon Dolan in the no38 G Drive Racing Gibson-Nissan.

The LMP3 class was led by the no11 Eurointernational Ligier JS P3 of Giorgio Mondini, with the Italian heading to the pits just before the clock hit the top of the hour to hand over to Marco Jacoboni.  The no9 Graff Ligier of Eric Trouillet inherited the lead ahead of the no26 Tockwith Motorsport run JS P3 of Philip Hanson.

The no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari 458 ended the first half of the race in the lead of the GTE class with Andrea Bertolini overtaking Alexander Talkinitsa in the no56 AT Racing Ferrari, which still had to make its stop.

The green flag to start the 4 Hours of Le Castellet was waved by racing legend Gerard Larrousse.
