Road To Le Mans - DC Racing Ligier and Mentos Racing Head Shortened Free Practice 2

ELMS - 16/06/2016

The second Free Practice for the 2016 Road To Le Mans was cut short after just 20 minutes when the session was red flagged after the no31 Graff Ligier-Nissan of Jean-Claude Poirier went off at Mulsanne, hitting the tyre barriers hard. The French driver was OK, and got out of the car unaided, but with the barriers needing extensive repairs and the marshals clearing oil off the track service.

The session started with the no11 By Speed Factory Ligier stopping at Pit Entry causing a Slow Zone to be declared for six minutes to recover the car safely.

The no19 Tockwith Motorsports Audi R8 also had to limp back to the pits with a flat rear tyre.

When the session was red flagged the no85 DC Racing Ligier-Nissan of Thomas Laurent was at the top of the time sheets with a 4m21.444s lap, 1.7 seconds ahead of the no77 Graff Ligier of John Falb.  The leading Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup entry was the no88 Mentos Racing Egidio Perfetti in third overall, the Norwegian setting a 4m24.020 lap, five places and three seconds ahead of the next GT3 competitor, the no17 Duqueine Engineering Ferrari F458 of Lonni Martins.

The next track session will be the 30-minute qualifying session for Saturday’s Road To Le Mans race, which is due to get underway at 18h00.
