LM P2 - 17/05/2015
Filipe Albuquerque took JOTA Sports third pole position in a row at Imola finishing the 20 minute qualifying session with a 1m34.496 lap, 1.5 seconds ahead of the no48 Murphy Prototypes Oreca Nissan of Nathanael Berthon.
Berthon headed the time sheets early in the session, with Leo Roussel in the no29 Pegasus Racing Morgan-Nissan vying for top spot. Tristen Gommendy in the no46 Thiriet by TDS Racing Oreca 05 Nissan was on a flying lap, setting the fastest time of the session in sector one, but the Frenchman lost control at Acque Minerali and spun off into the gravel trap, ending his challenge for pole position for this afternoon’s race.
Albuquerque joined the battle with ten minutes remaining on the clock and immediately went quickest. The Portuguese driver then improved his time just before the chequered flag and was the only driver to post a 1 minute, 34 second lap of the 4.9km Imola circuit.
In LMP3 Team LNT once again led the way with Charlie Robertson in the no3 Nissan powered Ginetta going quickest in the class. A spin towards the end of the session failed to blunt the Scots charge to the team’s second pole position of the season. Robertson’s fastest time of 1m42.498 was 0.5 seconds faster than Mark Shulzhitsky, the Russian finishing second in the no11 Lanan Racing Ginetta.
The 4 Hours of Imola will start at 14h00 CET and is the second race of the 2015 European Le Mans Series
