ELMS - 27/04/2018 - Jeff CARTER
The 19-year-old pulled out a sizeable lead before handing over to Canada’s John Farano and then to Rob Garofall, the British driver bringing the car home to take the chequered flag 32 seconds ahead of the rest of the LMP3 field.
The ELMS race on Sunday 15 April was Van Uitert’s second race in a prototype, the first being the day before in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, in which he shares a Ligier with his teammate John Farano. The Dutch-Canadian duo finished a credible 6th place in that encounter.
The young Dutch driver is one of the new breed of single seater racers who see the appeal of endurance racing as a better career path. In 2017 Van Uitert raced in his second season of the Italian F4 Championship, competing in 21 races. He won four times and took ten podiums in a season that saw Job take the Vice Champions title. He also scored one pole position and set four fastest laps. An impressive season by any standard.

Job Van Uitert said in the post race press conference following the 4 Hours of Le Castellet, “I am very happy with the result in Le Castellet. I had a good start and was P2 after the first couple of corners. I was a little surprised by everything as this was my first rolling start ever. I was able to grab the lead and extend it. The team did a great job and then John (Farano) and Rob (Garofall) finished it off. I am looking forward to the next race in Monza.”
Job Van Uitert is certainly a rising star of endurance racing and a driver to keep an eye on in the future.
