Jean-Eric Vergne Secures FIA Formula E Title in New York

ELMS - 16/07/2018 - Jeff CARTER

Monza race winner Jean-Eric Vergne has become the 2018 FIA Formula E Champion in New York at the weekend. The French driver secured the title on Bastille Day with a fifth placed finish from the back of the grid on the streets of New York and then finished off the 2018 season with a win on Sunday.

“I can't believe it – what a crazy race – god it feels good!” said Vergne after Saturday’s race. “Really I have no idea what it means to me to be champion – I need more time to process it – all I know is that it’s a good feeling. I enjoyed the race, but obviously, it was very tough.”

Jean-Eric Vergne will be back in action this weekend at the 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring racing alongside Roman Rusinov and Andrea Pizzitola in the championship leading no26 G-Drive Racing Oreca-Gibson.
