ELMS - 15/10/2015

Teams entered in the 2015 European Le Mans Series have arrived in Portugal and on Friday October 16th they will have set up their garages, prepared the cars and the drivers will have completed the track walk.

Spectators will be able to see the cars on track from Saturday October 17th from 10h30 for the first 90 minute free practice session.

At 12h30 fans of endurance racing will have the great opportunity to get close to the cars thanks to a special Saturday Pit Walk, which will last one full hour.  Between 13h30pm and 14h00pm, the winners of the VIP laps will have the opportunity to see what it is like to be on track as local young driver Rafael Lobato introduces them to the high performance ride of their lives.

Teams will be back on track from 15h00 to 16h30 for the second Free Practice session, which will be last opportunity to prepare the cars for qualifying and the final race of the 2015 season.

Sunday October 18th: D-Day Final race of the 2015 ELMS season

The Qualifying Session will start at 09h00 for the LMGTE and GTC competitors, who will have 20 minutes to set their fastest times. LMP2 and LMP3 will then take over at 09h30 for another 20-minute hard qualifying and at 09h50 the names of the pole position holders for the last race of the season will be known.

From 09h55 to 10h10 and from 10h15 to 10h30, spectators will have the opportunity to discover cars from different historic time periods, thanks to the two “Classic Car Parades”.

For the second time in the week-end, spectators will be able to ramble in the pitlane during the long Sunday Pit Walk to take place between 10h30 and 12h00, and take advantage of the autograph session between 11h00 and 11h30 to have their favourite drivers sign cards and posters.

And then, let’s go racing!

At 12h20 the real work begins as drivers will be focusing on the race ahead before the start.  After the grid is set, VIP guests will have the chance to walk amongst the cars during the Grid Walk before the green flag is waved at 13h00 and the 4 Hours of Estoril gets underway.

Four hours later, at 17h00, we will not only know the names of the winners of the 4 hours of Estoril, but also all the names of the 2015 champions!

First time in the ELMS and especially for this week-end, the public will be able to invade the track after the last car has entered parc fermé to celebrate the champions! Six out of the eight ELMS 2015 title remain to be won in Estoril, with the LMP2, LMGTE and GTC team and driver titles still yet to be decided.

While some of the fans will have their attention totally drawn to the track action, some other might want to take advantage of the free entertainment in the paddock, before and during the race, on both Saturday and Sunday.

Children’s entertainment includes the inflatable castle to jump in and the face painting stand, while older endurance fans will choose to have a Tattoo made in the Glitter Tatoo Bar.

There will also be an opportunity to take it easy in the rest area, watching the track action on a big screen, sitting in a comfortable long chair under the palm trees...

Fans of vintage vehicles wont want to miss the exhibition of historic cars or the display of the fabulous old timers’ firemen trucks! The Air Museum Portugal stand will hold one of the best surprises, as visitors will discover an impressive Alpha Jet... don’t hesitate, you don’t have many chances to get so close to one of these aircrafts.

Back to racing... if some spectators want to try their hand at driving a race car, then no problem, get behind the wheel of one of the simulators.  If live music is your preferred entertainment then there will be a DJ in the paddock who will play some great tunes during the weekend.

The 4 Hours of Estoril week-end starts on Saturday October 17th, with the final race of the 2015 season on Sunday October 18th, it will be full of emotions for sure!
