Interview with the LMP3 champions

ELMS - 14/11/2018 - Sophie LIGER

By finishing fourth of the 4 Hours of Portimão, Job Van Uitert, John Farano and Rob Garofall, at the wheel of the n°15 RLR MSport Ligier JS P3, secure the 2018 LMP3 title for the first time. We have met with them right after the last race of the season in Portimão to get their first impressions.

Job Van Uitert: "It looks good on my CV to be 2018 LMP3 ELMS champion! I’m really happy with how it turned out. I was not expecting that for my first season in Sportscar. In Portimão, my first two hours were tough, tyre management was quite important, we could not push too much. I don’t know how but I manage my way up in P1 but then the safety car came out and it was a bit tricky. In the end I had a smart drive without taking a lot of risks. I think I was smarter than I can usually be as I did not take so many risks, I was more conservative to make sure to make it to the end.”

John Farano: “We have no issue the way we took the championship in Portimão. It was safe, it was well planned. We knew what we had to do so it was good and I’m very happy about it. The track at Portimão is very difficult, it’s easy to make mistakes, easy for something to go wrong so when you are leading the championship you really have to be a bit more conscious about those things.”

Rob Garofall: “It’s fantastic, I’m really happy! When you have this level of talent in one category, when you look at the driver’s line-up, we are fortunate to come up at the top of the pile. It’s why I think we can be very proud of this title.  I think Endurance and ELMS is a fantastic place to start for young drivers that want to make a name in Sportscar and progress quickly.”
