1-2 for Ligier in Free Practice 2 in Italy

The no23 Panis Barthez Competition Ligier-Nissan was the quickest car in the second 90-minute Free Practice session of the weekend in Italy.  Paul Loup Chatin was the first driver to set a sub 1 minute 34 second lap around the 4.9km circuit with the French driver posting a time of 1m33.881, 0.2 seconds ahead of Olivier Pla in the no40 Krohn Racing Nissan powered Ligier.   The no21 Dragonspeed Oreca of Nicolas Lapierre posted a 1mm34.485s lap just as the chequered flag was waved to move into third ahead of the no41 Greaves Motorsport Ligier and the no33 Eurasia Motorsport Oreca-Nissan.

Free Practice was interrupted by five Full Course Yellows and one red flag as drivers met and surpassed the limits of the technically challenging Imola circuit.

In LMP3 it was the all Italian no7 Villorba Corse Ligier that set the quickest time on home soil recording a 1m40.349, 0.42s ahead of the no19 Duqueine Engineering Ligier and the no16 Panis Barthez Competition Ligier.

The LMGTE class was finally headed by the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari when Andrea Bertolini posted a 1m41.870 lap with 15 minutes of the session remaining.  The no88 Proton Competition Porsche was second quickest after heading the time sheets for most of the session and was just 0.17s slower than the Ferrari as the chequered flag was waved to end the session.
