Focus on the 2016 season of RLR Msport: interview with Nick Reynolds (Team Principal)

ELMS - 17/11/2016

RLR MSport started racing in European Le Mans Series this season. The British team runs the n°15 Ligier JSP3 in the LMP3 class. At the end of the season, the team was standing 13th in the LMP3 classification with 17.5 points. We have met with Nick Reynolds, the Team Principal, to review the team’s 2016 season and to ask about the projects for 2017.

2016 Review: “It was an uneven season to be honest. We have made several driver changes, which is not easy especially for the consistency. Only Morten Dons did the whole season with us. We improved during the season but we had to get to know the tracks which takes time for the drivers. We didn’t finish one race, at the Circuit Paul Ricard, because of an incident with another car but we had improved in qualifying. We hope to do better next year.”

The 2017 season: “We will race in European Le Mans Series with two LMP3s. This other P3 was in the paddock in Estoril. The good news is that we will also enter an LMP2 (Ligier JS P217). We will have the car in February and we will do some tests before the start of the season. We will have a busy 2017 season, running 3 cars will be a lot of work!”

The goals for 2017: “The aim is one day to participate at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, maybe next year with our LMP2. We will see what happens. To be competitive in ELMS is also our goal in both LMP3 and LMP2. We want to improve our 2016 results and performance in LMP3 and we hope to do well in LMP2. As we will have the car early, we will have time to run some tests and to be competitive from the start of the season.”

The 2017 drivers: “We cannot announce the drivers yet, it is too soon.”

The ELMS: “We love competing in ELMS, it’s a great championship. It’s professional and well managed. We and our partners are very happy to take part to this prestigious series.”
