Two safety car periods in the first half of the race.
First SC period caused when the no25 Algarve Pro Racing Ligier of Andrea Roda went off the track at T11 and hit the barriers, flipping the car on its roof. Andrea Roda walked away and was declared OK after medical centre checks.
Second SC period was almost immediately after racing resumed following first SC period. Accident at T12 involving no77 Proton Competition Porsche of Christian Ried and the no5 By Speed Factory Ligier of Jurgen Krebs. The Ligier stopped in middle of the track and had to be recovered.
• No32 United Autosports Ligier (Hugo de Sadeleer) takes lead at start of the race. Soon under pressure from Leo Roussel in the no2 G-Drive Racing Oreca, but the French driver took an early pitstop for fuel when a Full Course Yellow was declared on Lap 8
• LMP3 battle between Wayne Boyd (no3 United Autosports Ligier) and Mikkel Jensen (no9 AT Racing Ligier) in the early part of the race. Jensen dropped down the order at start from pole and the Dane fought back to move into the lead on lap 8
• Ross Gunn (no99 Beechdean AMR Aston Martin) moving up from the back of the grid to challenge and pass Aaron Scott (no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari) for the lead.
• No90 TF Sport Aston Martin of Euan Hankey dropped to the back of the field after suffering damage to the front of the car at the start. Hankey decides to continue rather than pitting.
