Gary Hirsch : Making the Swiss shine brightly

LM P2 - 10/06/2015

Gary Hirsch is going into his second Le Mans 24 Hours with a great deal of enthusiasm but extremely calmly, alongside his ELMS team mate Jon Lancaster and a young high flyer, Gaëtan Paletou. They will drive the No.41 Gibson 015S-Nissan of the British Greaves Motorsport team.

How are you approaching your second Le Mans 24 Hours?
Firstly, I'm super happy to be back there. This race is really something special, and returning to Le Mans brings back great feelings. I’m going there this time with a year’s experience under my belt, and while it’s still not much compared to others, it’s very useful as I approach my second Le Mans. I'm a little calmer, but still excited to be there.

Last year you were the newcomer, the rookie in the team, but this year it’s your turn to welcome another newcomer.  Has he asked you questions and how do you think you can help him?
In fact it is really very new for him as he’s only just found out he was going to be with us.  We haven’t had much time to get together but, for sure, Jon and I will be there to share our limited experience with him and give him all the help we can. We're all here to work as a team.

What has changed for you between 2014 and 2015?
Last year was my first time and I was there representing Switzerland, in a Swiss team, and it was really a special environment in which we could put Switzerland to the forefront.  This year, I joined a British team which is different but I’m still representing Switzerland... Today (Sunday) Stan Wawrinka beat Novak Djokovic in the final at the Roland Garros ... I wish and hope we can make the Swiss shine as brightly at Le Mans this week.
