Tincknell set a 1m21.809 second lap, over half a second ahead of the nearest rival, the no23 Panis Barthez Competition Ligier of reigning ELMS Champion Paul Loup Chatin and the no21 Dragonspeed Oreca of 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Nicolas Lapierre.
In LMP3 the championship leading no2 United Autosports Ligier of Alex Brundle, Michael Guasch and Christian England held the top spot for most of Free Practice with Brundle setting a 1m26.999 lap. However late in the session the Anglo American team dropped down to third after the no16 Panis Barthez Competition Ligier of Simon Gachet posted a 1m26.644 and the no3 United Autosport Ligier of Wayne Boyd went 0.114s quicker than his teammate.
In LMGTE it was a Porsche v Ferrari battle with the no88 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR 991 of Matteo Cairoli getting the upperhand with a 1m28.824, 0.240 ahead of the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari 458 of Rory Butcher. The no77 Proton Competition Porsche of Marco Seefried was third quickest with a 1m29.407, just 0.2 seconds ahead of Daren Turner in the no99 Aston Martin Racing Vantage V8.
The second Free Practice session will take place at 08h35 tomorrow morning followed by the first of the three qualifying sessions at 12h50.
