A storm soaked the track mid-afternoon so only 29 cars took part in the second free session reduced to 60 minutes. At the end, the two Peugeot 908s topped the time sheets with no. 8 in front of no. 7. They were followed by the no. 46 LM P2 Oreca 03-Nissan entered by TDS Racing.
At 15h00, a violent storm hit the Imola circuit. Only 28 cars took to the very wet track between 17h00 and 18h00. Some of the front-runners like .the No. 1 Audi R18 TDI, the no. 13 Rebellion Racing Lola B10/60 Coupé, the no. 16 Pescarolo– Judd of Team Pescarolo, the no. 41 Greaves Motorsport LM P2 Zytek Z11SN – Nissan, the AF Corse Ferraris and the no. 50 Corvette C6-ZR1 entered by Larbre Compétition did not leave their pits.
The classification throws little light on the strengths of the various teams. At the end the two Peugeot 908s finished on top in front of the first LM P2, the no. 46 LM P2 Oreca 03-Nissan entered by TDS Racing. The no. 2 Audi R18 TDI was fourth, over 4 seconds slower than the quickest French car.
The first LM GTE Pro, the no. 75 Prospeed Porsche 911 RSR was tenth in front of the first LM GTE AM, the no. 67 IMSA Performance Matmut Porsche 911 RSR.
The cars will start the third and last session at 08h55 tomorrow morning for 60 minutes on what should be a dry track.
